Teenage girls have always been pioneers of style and culture. But it isn’t just Gen Z girls who have changing, fluid identities. All of us contain multitudes—enter our campaign for Sk8-Hi, Express All of Yourselves. For this campaign, we wanted to show how one girl can transform herself into multiple different identities through her style choices - based on where she is, who she’s with, and how she’s feeling - all with the Vans Sk8-Hi/Sentry as the common thread that connects each outfit.

Our visual approach to telling this story reflected the “in-progress” spirit of any personal evolution. Our treatment utilized mixed media to peel back the gloss and polish to show our images in a raw state. We crafted graphics to create a sense of actively being edited, transformed, with overlays, filters, and interfaces that girls use as creative tools online.
We created a comfortable environment on set to capture filmic portraits of the many ways our girls express themselves. Our story is propelled forward by interviews about personal style, self love, and growth.
